Welcome to the Geauga County Genealogical Society

With the objective to promote genealogical research and the preservation of genealogical records, our society is open to all researchers.

GCGS was formed in 1971 and is a dedicated group of researchers and genealogists comprised of local, regional and out of state members. We became a chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (OGS) in 1973.

  • We are located in and support the genealogical collection in the Anderson Allyn Room of the Geauga County Public Library (GCPL), Chardon branch.

  • Our monthly meetings are held in the Chardon Branch  Bostwick Room the 2nd Tuesday except July and August.

Our meetings include invited speakers, interesting programs on family history, local interests and research aids. Attendance at our meetings is free and open to the public where we'd love to hear your interesting stories and research challenges.

It is a great place to network with other genealogists
