Welcome to the Geauga County Genealogical Society!
With the objective to promote genealogical research and the preservation of genealogical records, our society is open to all researchers.
GCGS was formed in 1973 and is a dedicated group of researchers and genealogists that is comprised of local, regional and out of state members.
We are located in and support the genealogical collection in the Anderson Allyn Room of the Geauga County Public Library (GCPL), Chardon branch.
Our monthly meetings are held in the GCPL Bostwick Room the 2nd Tuesday except January, February, July, and August.
Our meetings include invited speakers, interesting programs on family history, local interests and research aids. Attendance at our meetings is free and open to the public where we'd love to hear your interesting stories and research challenges.
It is a great place to network with other genealogists.
Serve as a forum for invited speakers and our members to host presentations on historical and/or genealogical topics.
Serve as a forum for the discussion of the latest genealogy research methods and practices, including electronic resources.
Encourage accurate and
well-documented genealogy research.
Encourage the public to preserve their family history.
